Located at the central part of the City of Dhobichaur, Kathmandu lies a beacon of education and heritage—the Public Youth Campus (PYC). Established with a vision to provide quality education and foster the growth of young minds, this institution has played a pivotal role in shaping the educational landscape of Nepal. As we navigate through the modern era, it is crucial to revisit and appreciate the origins and significance of this esteemed campus, ensuring that its legacy continues to inspire future generations.

Public Youth Campus (PYC) is one of the leading constituent campuses of Tribhuvan University (TU), Faculty of Management. Established in 1971 (2028 BS) following the introduction of the New Education System Plan, the campus boasts an unrivalled position in Nepal's management education history. This institution's establishment marked a significant milestone in Nepal’s educational journey, reflecting the nation’s commitment to fostering intellectual growth and development.

Over the years, the Public Youth Campus has evolved into a hub of academic excellence, offering a diverse range of programs in commerce, management, and humanities. PYC keeps itself at a high record historically in terms of the country’s essential services related to business management. This includes the development of manpower to meet needs in accounts, insurance, audit, commercial correspondence, franchise, trade operation, agency businesses, typing, and shorthand. These subjects were urgently needed to cope with the new horizon created in the business hemisphere of a newly declared democratic country, advancing particularly in terms of international relations.

The small Commerce Department at Tri-Chandra College, initiated in 1954 AD (2011 BS), could not meet the needs of the day. Therefore, the faculty members of the Commerce Department at Tri-Chandra College (TC) took a step forward to establish Public Commerce College in 1958 AD (2015 BS). The key protagonists for this cause included Trailokya Man Singh Pradhan, Upendra Bahadur Pradhanang, Gehendra Bahadur Rajbhandari, Khem Ranjan Baral, and Gopal Man Shrestha, who continued his efforts to the end.

Beyond academics, the Public Youth Campus has a glorious tradition of learning where teachers and students have displayed, almost reminiscent of ancient seats of learning, exemplary cooperation, understanding, trust, and commitment. It is often described by academia as a TU-constituent campus where political or disruptive activities hardly affect or pollute its educational environment. This unique atmosphere has made PYC a cornerstone of progress in our area, continuing to empower students with quality education and strong values.

The Public Youth Campus is more than just an educational institution; it is a living testament to Nepal’s dedication to learning and cultural preservation. As we look to the future, we must honour and preserve this legacy, ensuring that the values and traditions embodied by the campus continue to inspire and guide the younger generation. By doing so, we not only safeguard our heritage but also empower our youth with a deeper understanding of their roots and the enduring importance of education in building a better tomorrow.
